This course introduces computer aided design (CAD) software used in the civil engineering field. Basic CAD tools for printing and manipulating CAD drawings are introduced.

Upon completion of this course, the student will:
- Prepare CAD drawings with appropriate values for drafting settings.
- Identify methods to open CAD drawing files.
- Identify methods to create new CAD drawing files.
- Demonstrate methods to change drawing settings such as units, layers, and text size.
- Describe the significance of drawing settings such as units, layers, and text size.
- Use common CAD drawing and editing commands.
- Identify common tools and toolbars.
- Use common drawing commands such as line and polyline.
- Use common edit commands such as copy, move, and offset.
- Use common text commands.
- Select print/plot commands with proper settings.
- Identify common printing/plotting settings.
- Illustrate common methods of title block layout in respect to drawings.
- Use print/plot command.
- Demonstrate professional and ethical conduct as expected in industry.
- Identify the need for self-discipline and time management in technical industries.
- Communicate and function effectively as a member of a team.
The grade will be determined using the Delaware Tech grading system:
