Course Number and Title: CVS 203 Clinical Internship III
This course, a continuation of Clinical Internship II, provides additional development of applicable skills through more independent work and measures proficiency in cardiovascular sonographic procedures.

Upon completion of this course, the student will:
- Demonstrate and evaluate continuing competencies as outlined in previous internship objectives to develop independent practice in a clinical setting.
- In a clinical setting, perform with proficiency various ultrasound procedures as outlined in previous internship objectives.
- Comply with college, program, and clinical affiliates’ policies.
- Conduct with competency 2D echocardiograms with M-mode and color/Doppler evaluation using real-time ultrasound equipment.
- Conduct with competency scans of extremity arteries, extremity veins, cerebrovasculature, and abdominal vasculature using real-time ultrasound or physiological equipment.
- Value being an integral team member in the healthcare delivery system.
- Demonstrate appropriate interaction skills with the interpreting physician and other healthcare professionals in a clinical setting.
- Value and demonstrate professional and ethical behaviors.
- Develop skills to work cooperatively with all members of the healthcare team, recognizing and respecting each member’s unique abilities, contributions, and functions.

- Explain the procedure briefly and clearly to the patient.
- Explain the appropriate applications of ultrasound evaluation.
- Describe and educate other healthcare providers and the public on sonographic application both verbally and in written form.
- Perform the diagnostic medical sonographic procedures independently within the plan of care and scope of responsibility.
- Formulate and assist in the coordination of a plan of action, and follow it to perform diagnostic medical sonographic procedure and other tests.
- Identify and prioritize any problems that occur.
- Predict the consequences of possible solutions.
- Evaluate pertinent information to solve the problems.
