Course Number and Title: HIS 132 Art History II
This course covers the history of Western art, architecture, and the decorative arts from the height of the Renaissance to the 21st Century. The relationship between art of the various periods and their historical and cultural influences are explored.
- Identify key elements, vocabulary, movements, motivations, and makers of art throughout the post-Renaissance history of art. (CCC 1, 5)
- Relate elements of design used in historical works to contemporary design. (CCC 2, 4, 5)
- Develop a historical reference and research methodology specifically related to the arts and design. (CCC 1, 2, 4, 5, 6)

Upon completion of this course, the student will:
- Identify key elements, vocabulary, movements, motivations, and makers of art throughout the post-Renaissance history of art.
- Define vocabulary words from each of the artistic periods studied.
- Identify key components of architectural styles from each of the periods studied.
- Identify representative slides or images from the text and lectures by their period, style, culture, and classification.
- Prepare a written or oral presentation on a particular piece of art or artist.
- Research and describe the history and culture of a people or country pertaining to the significance of that civilization to our broader study of Western art.
- Relate elements of design used in historical works to contemporary design.
- Explain the importance of art to the religion and/or philosophy of various cultures studied.
- Develop a historical reference and research methodology specifically related to the arts and design.
- Construct a timeline using images of art and architecture of the periods studied.
Students must demonstrate proficiency on all CCPOs at a minimal 75 percent level to successfully complete the course. The grade will be determined using the Delaware Tech grading system:
