Course Number and Title: IDT G99 Special Topic in Educational Technology
This course is designed to enable the participant to focus on a special topics related to curriculum, instructional design, and/or educational technology. All special topics must be approved by the Director of CCIT prior to enrolling/registering in this course. Participants will focus on advance educational topics, not covered in our current course Instructional Design and Technology Certificate course offerings. Participants may take this course a maximum of twice, with an approved change of topic for each instance.

- Design and develop a workshop on the approved special topic. (CCC 1, 2, 4, 5)
- Teach a workshop on the approved special topic. (CCC 1, 2, 4, 5)

Upon completion of this course, the student will:
- Investigate advanced special topics related to instructional design, educational technology, and curriculum.
- Define instructional design and identify the characteristics of instructional design systems.
- Compare and contrast various instructional theories.
- Compose a white paper on the approved special topic.
- Compare and contrast various fact-based theories related to the special topic.
- Critique scholarly articles related to the special topic.
- Design and develop a workshop on the approved special topic.
- Construct learning objectives and assessment items based on Bloom’s taxonomy.
- Interpret learning characteristics utilized by the target audience.
- Assess the impact of technology and technical issues in the learning environment.
- Teach a workshop on the approved special topic.
- Apply effective instructional strategies for Gagne’s categories of learning.
- Design activities that facilitate interaction (student-content, student-instructor, student-student and student-resources) appropriate to your workshop delivery method.
Students must demonstrate proficiency on all CCPOs at a minimal 75 percent level to successfully complete the course. The grade will be determined using the Delaware Tech grading system:
