Course Description:

This course introduces the causes, characteristics, and treatments of various categories of abnormal behavior. The student will examine and comprehend the diversity of factors surrounding maladaptive behavior, including historical views, classification of abnormal disorders, physical and psychological symptoms, and available treatments.

    1. Identify the major definitions of abnormal behavior, including biological, psychological, and sociocultural views.
    2. Evaluate the definition and classification of abnormal behaviors as used in the DSM.

    2. Assess the ethical implications involved in researching abnormal behavior.

Evaluation Criteria/Policies:

Students must demonstrate proficiency on all CCPOs at a minimal 75 percent level to successfully complete the course. The grade will be determined using the Delaware Tech grading system:

92 100 = A
83 91 = B
75 82 = C
0 74 = F
